PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF COOPERATION OF RUSSIA ANDTAJIKISTAN IN THE FIELD OF ATTRACTING FOREIGN INVESTMENT

The article analyzes the current state of investment cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities of expanding it on the basis of mutually beneficial conditions, as well as deepening existing and creating new Russian investment projects in Tajikistan. The investment climate of Tajikistan was assessed by calculating the BERI index (Environment Risk Intelli-gence Index), based on 15 factors that reflect the combination of political, economic, state-legal and social conditions that ensure the country’s attractiveness for foreign investment. As a result, the final investment rating was 2.7 out of 5, which reflects the high level of investment risks and uncertainty in the Republic of Tajikistan at the moment. The main reasons holding back investments are highlighted: the presence in the region of tough competition for investments; more consistent and successful reforms in the direction of entrepreneurship and investment by neighboring countries; unfavorable geographic location of the republic. The promising areas of cooperation have been substantiated: the fuel and energy complex, machine-building and agricultural industries, information and telecommunications sphere, cooperation in the development of the transport network, modernization of existing and laying of new railway and automobile highways, implementation of joint projects on the territory of – free economic zones.
