The paper classifies electricity losses on 35 kV transmission lines in the region. The study is based on the example of the electric power system of the Soghd Oblast of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was revealed that for the electric power system of the region, the most significant are the load losses, which are caused not only by the transmitted power, but also depend on the climate conditions of the region. As the load current (power transmitted) increases, the conductor resistance increases, additional heating occurs and in case of higher ambient temperature, convective heat transfer between the conductor and the medium deteriorates, which negatively affects the mechanical properties of the conductor. This contributes to an increase in losses in power lines. It was revealed that the specific values of losses per 1 km of overhead lines – 35 kV, regardless of the cross-section of conductors for the city of Khujand are higher than for the B. Gafurov region. This phenomenon is due to the higher degree of congestion of VL-35 in the city of Khujand. The calculated losses of active and reactive energy and voltage losses in the distribution network are given.
