Annatation
The paper deals with essence and content of the competitive environment and the competitiveness of banks in relation to the goals set. The purpose of the article is to outline the current state of the competitive environment and the competitiveness of banks in Tajikistan. There are many different methods of analysis and approaches to determining the measure of competition. On the basis of theoretical approaches, the rating of commercial banks is substantiated and determined by two parameters. The first – by analyzing such key indicators as: the volume of the loan portfolio, the volume of deposits, the concentration of assets, deposits, capital, loan portfolio and the issuance of money transfers. The second is by calculating specific indicators (structural approach) as an indicator of concentration Herfindahl-Hirschman index, which is an indicator of the concentration of several largest firms in the framework of the theory of industry markets. The authors have established a modern competitive environment. Based on the analysis of annual financial and economic data of banks, the competitiveness of banks in Tajikistan has been determined. It is proved that the segment of the country’s banking services has both a restraining and stimulating effect on its dynamics. The research points to significant financial potential of the three major banks. It is concluded that these three banks are leaders and drivers of the development of the financial sector in Tajikistan. At the same time, the calculations showed that the services of banks in terms of the volume of the loan portfolio and other indicators of assets, liabilities and the volume of deposits indicate a highly concentrated market for lending services. It is quite difficult for new banks to enter such a market and win their market share. To increase the competitiveness of banks, the National Bank of Tajikistan, as a mega-regulator of the country’s financial market, needs to develop a set of measures for the development of financial services to individuals.
