THE IMPACT OF THE DIGITALIZATION PROCESS OF THE ECONOMY ON FOREIGN TRADE OPERATIONS AND MONEY TRANSFERS IN TAJIKISTAN
Authors
Abstract
The article examines the impact of digitalization processes on the development of the foreign economic relations of the Republic of Tajikistan, with a particular focus on areas such as e-commerce and internet banking. In the context of global transformations and the digital modernization of the world economy, the active implementation of digital technologies becomes an important factor for sustainable economic growth and enhancing international competitiveness. Based on extensive statistical data for the period 2020–2024, the study presents a comprehensive analysis of the key aspects of Tajikistan’s digital economic transformation, including the dynamics of foreign trade, the growth of remittances, expanded access to financial services, and changes in the investment climate — all of which show positive trends. Specifically, the article explores the growth of online purchases through international marketplaces, the structure and volume of digital payments, the spread of mobile wallets and POS terminals, as well as the positive dynamics of foreign direct investment amid digital reforms. It also identifies serious challenges related to low digital literacy among the population, limited internet access in remote areas, and weak integration into global digital markets. The article outlines government policy directions to address these challenges, including the implementation of the Digital Economy Concept and plans to expand regional internet access.
