ESSENCE AND CONTENT OF THE MECHANISM FOR MANAGING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION

Annotation

 

    The paper provides an analysis of the existing interpretations of the management of sustainable development of the region as a system of science-based principles and measures taken by public authorities to stabilize the socio-economic system in a non-stable external environment. The developed concepts by this time consider the close interconnection of sustainable development and management processes, efficiency of which is estimated by high results of social and economic parameters of regional system development. Achievement of the best results of socio-economic parameters of regional development is possible with an adequate sustainable development management mechanism which should promptly respond to any threats and coordinate development in the direction provided. The author offers his own vision of the region steady development management which presupposes an effective and purposeful influence of authorities upon destabilizing factors complex for the purpose of region dynamic equilibrium maintenance. The author’s understanding of the sustainable development management mechanism of the region which lies in organizing of processes of making economic and managerial decisions by authorities using methods, techniques and rules of economic management in order to achieve sustainable development of the region is also suggested. Methods, tools and functions of sustainable development management mechanism of the region are disclosed in the article. Sustainable development management mechanism must include constant monitoring of sustainability in order to control the achievement of established goals. The paper provides a rationale for the stages of monitoring the management of sustainable development of the region.
