THE ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF REDUCING ELECTRICITY LOSSESS IN REGIONAL ELEKTRIC POWER INFRASTRUCTURE
Authors
Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of electricity losses in the power infrastructure of the Republic of Tajikistan, particularly in Sughd region. It has been determined that the energy infrastructure serves as an important element of the national economy. The analysis shows that electricity losses are one of the key indicators of the efficiency of infrastructure operation. The main factors contributing to electricity losses — including technical losses, metering errors, and commercial losses — have been examined. Using statistical data and calculations, the authors demonstrated the negative impact of electricity losses on the gross regional product (GRP) of the Sughd region. The article also proposes several important measures to reduce losses, such as: modernization and repair of outdated transmission and distribution networks using low-loss wires and equipment; implementation of automated control and metering systems (SCADA and Smart Metering) to prevent commercial losses and increase transparency; improvement of energy management through professional training and the use of modern energy management methods; utilization of renewable energy sources (solar panels, small hydropower plants) to reduce the load on existing networks; and implementation of informational and educational programs among consumers to promote rational electricity use. The implementation of these measures can lead to a significant reduction in electricity losses, improvement of energy transmission quality, enhancement of economic efficiency, and promotion of sustainable regional economic development.
