 <\/em>Annotation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  The current National Scientific and Educational Network (NREN) TARENA, which is part of the CAREN network «Central Asian Research and Education Network», is described. It is noted that this network is connected to the European scientific and educational network GEANT and NREN of the Pacific coast TEIN by a fiber-optic line. It is indicated that this allows the educational and scientific community to maintain continuous creative communication with colleagues from the countries of Central Asia, Europe and the Pacific coast in addressing issues of further development of higher education and science at the level of contemporary international requirements. Such areas as distance learning, the quality management system for education, the creation of the Central Asian electronic library and electronic educational resources are considered. The problems related to seismology, reduction of the risk of natural disasters, energy saving, etc. are identified, and the main directions for their solution are outlined.<\/em><\/p>\n
