The mechanism of influence of lithospheric processes on relay protection devices is described. It is noted that high-pressure hydroelectric power plants are usually located in complex mining and geological conditions, where the probability of the formation of lithospheric sources is maximum. Therefore, there are risks of the impact of quasi-direct currents on the power transformers of hydroelectric power plants and disruption of their normal functioning. Quasi-direct currents cause saturation of power transformers and an increase in the level of higher harmonics of the current, which affect the operation of the relay protection devices of the transformer. The schemes of the model for the study of microprocessor terminals of relay protection are given. To determine the effect of saturation of a power transformer, with the flow of quasi-direct currents, on relay protection devices, the RTDS real-time simulation software and hardware complex is used. To test the reaction of relay protection devices, a test model of a section of the electric power system was built. The task of modeling was to determine the possibility of triggering the microprocessor protection of a power transformer when a quasi-direct current flows through its windings. To do this, a microprocessor relay protection terminal was connected to the RTDS real-time simulation complex. In conclusion, it is noted that in order to increase the reliability of protection of power transformers, it is necessary to implement a new algorithm for the functioning of differential current protection.
