Annotation
This article explores the challenges of the transition to next generation networks, which provide an opportunity for Internet service providers to provide new types of modern telecommunication services. The problems of building next generation telecommunication networks, design standards and software for network equipment are analysed. The ways to improve the competitiveness of multiservice services and trends in packet switching are explored. The author has made an endeavor of solving current goat aimed at elicitation of the problems related to perfection and development of telecommunication networks. He considers variants of enlargement of the spectrum of rendered servicer at the expense of engrafting modern telecommunication technologies. The prospect of development of multimedia services rendered only through IP – networks have been explored. It is concluded that the transition to next-generation networks is a matter of time, which will allow to improve the quality of services and the competitiveness of existing telecommunications networks. It will also create conditions for the introduction of new telecommunications services and thus increase the profitability of telecommunications companies.
