Annotation

This article discusses the importance of television as the most popular and accessible media based on its influence on the emotional-voluntary environment of the individual and the formation of public consciousness. As a result of the study, logical understanding and interpretation of the works of several authors, some methodological aspects of this concept were developed on the basis of the research objectives, and it was found that television should be institutionalized. The reason for the unconventional nature of the television industry from an economic point of view is established on the basis of the fact that it produces its own goods and operates simultaneously in two markets, the goods market and the services market. The article also covers the economic characteristics of television as a service sector. Based on the research, the functions of television (which were not sufficiently studied) were identified and its role in increasing the productivity of public work was defined.
