Annotation
The article examines the consequences of the impact of the coronavirus on tourism as the most dynamically developing sector of the economy, the factors constraining its development, which are associated with crisis behavioral and economic effects. It has been argued that tourism is among the sectors most affected by the economic consequences of the pandemic, as the tourism and recreation sector is affected by external shocks – events in specific host countries: climate change and natural disasters, currency fluctuations, financial and economic crises, which lead to a re-distribution of travel to other regions. The results of empirical measurements obtained in the course of the original sociological survey, covering 417 respondents in various regions of Azerbaijan, are generalized. The authors focus on the prospects for the development of domestic and inbound tourism in the republic in modern conditions and in the post-pandemic period, changes in the behavioral stereotypes of potential travelers, including behavioral strategies depending on financial opportunities for travel. The new opportunities for the entire tourism market have been justified – acceleration of digitalization of tourism services, more active implementation of modern technologies, use of ideas of the impression’s economy, actualization of the individual approach to the client, as well as the environmental aspect of the tourism product, expansion of the geography of tourist routes.
